One day, while traversing her domain, Freydis happened upon a warrior named Bjorn. Tall, strong, and brimming with life, Bjorn captured her heart at once. Yet, despite her best efforts, Bjorn remained cold and elusive, seemingly immune to her charms. Desperate to win his affection, Freydis sought the help of Lady Isolde Iceborn, a powerful sorceress renowned for her mastery of love potions.
Lady Isolde resided in a grand ice tower perched atop a perilous mountain, accessible only to those who braved the treacherous climb. Upon reaching the tower, Lady Isolde revealed that the secret to capturing Bjorn’s heart lay in a unique love potion, one that required the silver stardust of Celestia, a majestic Pegasus known to soar through the skies above the icy realm and lived in the enchanted forest of Øvre Dividal. This celestial stardust held the power to open Bjorn’s heart and let love enter, but it would not be easy to obtain.
With determination in her eyes, Freydis embarked on a treacherous quest to collect the silver stardust. Along the way, she encountered the Frost Sprites, playful and mischievous beings who pledged their loyalty to the Snow Queen and offered their assistance in her mission. At last, they reached the edge of the enchanted forest of Øvre Dividal, where Celestia was said to dwell. With the help of the Frost Sprites, Freydis managed to collect the precious silver stardust from the Pegasus’s wings. With the celestial ingredient in hand, she returned to Lady Isolde to craft the enchanting love potion in her mountaintop ice tower.
Upon her return to the fishing village of Fiskerhavn, Freydis offered the potion to Bjorn, who, entranced by her bravery and determination, willingly drank the magical elixir. As the potion took effect, the coldness that once shrouded his heart melted away, revealing his true feelings for the Snow Queen.

The wise and ingenious Evelyn Blackthorn replaced the Hot Goat’s Milk and Honey brewed with the tears of the snow queen symbolizing the transformative power of love, melting away the ice of isolation and despair with Chocolate and Hot Moon Charged Water. We changed the quick charging time of 3 hours to a deep cycle charge of 29 days.
The magical incantations recited during the preparation of the potion are a testament to Lady Isolde’s wisdom and her intimate knowledge of love’s mysteries. These incantations, originally written in Old Nordic and translated to Old Laten by Evelyn Blackthorn, are whispered with reverence and conviction, and serve to infuse the potion with a powerful energy that can awaken the dormant passions in the hearts of those who partake in it.
The ice tower, Lady Isolde’s secluded abode, also plays a crucial role in the recipe. The Rekindling: Love Potion #1’s Modern Resurgence
Long considered lost, the ancient formula for Love Potion #1: Winter’s Embrace was unexpectedly brought back into the world. In 1783, Evelyn Blackthorn, a young English witch, ventured into the frost-covered remnants of Lady Isolde Iceborn’s ice tower, searching for the hidden chamber. Amid the tower’s ruins, she discovered a tattered scroll, preserved by the lingering magic within the structure.
The scroll contained the secret recipe for Love Potion #1: Winter’s Embrace. After returning to England, Evelyn was accused of witchcraft and met her demise at the hands of the Inquisition. Her family was pursued, but her granddaughter Christine Morrison managed to escape with Evelyn’s precious grimoire.
Christine fled to France, then journeyed to Gibraltar in Spain, and crossed the sea to Carthage. Traveling with a caravan of Arab traders, she reached the slave port of Salé in Morocco, where she boarded a Barbary slave ship destined for the New World.
Upon arrival, Christine settled in the Bayous of Louisiana, near the city of New Orleans. Over time, she and the grimoire faded into obscurity, their existence is known only to a select few within the local community. The grimoire passed down through the generations, each new guardian adding their own knowledge to the ancient book.
In 2016, while attending a yard sale just outside of New Orleans, I stumbled upon the grimoire. The seller, an elderly woman, recounted the tale of its origin, speaking of an old witch who once lived in the bayous, a descendant of an English witch executed during the Inquisition. Intrigued by the story, I purchased the grimoire for $1,500.
Upon examining the book, I found the inscription “Whispers of magic and secrets untold, bound within these pages by Evelyn Blackthorn’s hold.” This discovery led me on a journey to trace the grimoire back to its original owner, Evelyn Blackthorn, and her incredible quest for the lost love potion of Freydis and Bjorn.
The grimoire is written in Old English, French, and Creole, with some Old Nordic, and Old Latin incantations mixed in its 253 rituals and spells, including 43 love potions. This invaluable addition to our library serves as a testament to the resilience of knowledge, bridging the gap between the distant past and our present day.
Concocting Enchantment: Crafting Winter’s Embrace
Embrace the magic of winter as you craft this delightful love potion infused with lunar energy. To create a potent elixir, you will need to charge your ingredients under the moonlight, starting on the New Moon and culminating on the Full Wolf Moon in January. The gentle, gradual infusion of energy will deepen the potion’s power, ensuring its enchantment lasts longer and reaches further.
To prepare for the potion, gather the following ingredients:
- Bourbon, charged with the energy from the January Wolf Moon
- Bottled Mineral Water, charged with the energy from the January Wolf Moon
- Edible Silver Flakes
Place each ingredient into individual clear glass jars, seal them securely, and position them under the moonlight every evening prior to the Full Wolf Moon. As you set them out, gently recite the incantations for each ingredient. (We have furnished three versions of the incantation: two in ancient languages, and one in English. Evelyn Blackthorn graciously translated the Old Norse incantations into Old Latin, and we have subsequently translated the Old Latin into English for your convenience.)
In the Old Nordic Language
For the Bourbon: “Nóttar tungls anda, Velsigna þetta Bourbon með ljósi þínu. Fylla því með elds krafti ástar, Og ást sem aldrei tynist.”
For the Mineral Water: “Nætr Mána vatns, Fylla þetta belg með ást innan. Með mátt Fulla Varg Mána, Hlaða vatnið, blómstri ást.”
For the Edible Silver Flakes: “Silfr flögur, hrein og gljáandi, Taktu upp tungls töfrar. Með hverri örnu, okkur ást vex, Í þessum drykk, birtast.”
In Old Latin
For the Bourbon: “Spiritus noctis lunaris, Benedic hoc Bourbon lumine tuo. Infunde cum flamma passionis, Et amore qui numquam deficit.”
For the Mineral Water: “Aquis lunae noctis, Imple hoc vase amore intus. Per potestatem Lunae Plenae Lupi, Carga aquam, floreat amor.”
For the Edible Silver Flakes: “Argentum micans, purum et splendidum, Lumen lunae magicum absorbe. Cum singulis squamis, amor noster crescat, In hoc potione, manifestetur.”
In English
For the Bourbon: “Moonlit spirits of the night, Bless this Bourbon with your light. Infuse it with passion’s flame, And love that never wanes.”
For the Mineral Water: “Waters of the moonlit tide, Fill this jar with love inside. By the power of the Full Wolf Moon, Charge this water, let love bloom.”
For the Edible Silver Flakes: “Shimmering silver, pure and bright, Absorb the moon’s enchanted light. With every flake, our love shall grow, In this potion, let it show.”
During the day, store the charged jars in your refrigerator to preserve the enchantment.
Once the Wolf Moon has arrived, it is time to concoct your magical elixir. Follow the instructions on the spell card and prepare to be transported into a world of love and enchantment, wrapped in the warmth of Winter’s Embrace.

Ingredients
- 4 oz bourbon distilled from the hearts of fallen angels
- 2 cups moon charged mineral water charged by the light of the wolf moon
- 4 cubes dark sweet chocolate blended with the tears of the snow queen
- 1 cup whipped cream whipped by the breath of the winter wind
- ½ tsp cinnamon ground by the hands of a wizened shaman
- Edible silver flakes plucked from the wings of a celestial Pegasus
Instructions
- In your cauldron, heat the moon charged mineral water over a medium flame, whispering the incantation, [Old Nordic: "Látið eld sólar brenna í hjarta mínu!" Old Latin: "Fiat ignis caelestis in corde meo ardens!" or in English: "Let the fires of Heaven burn in my heart!"] to infuse it with the fire of love.
- Once warmed, gently drop in dark chocolate cubes into the cauldron, stirring with the elemental wooden spoon, and chant, [Old Nordic: "Snjórdrottning, mitt hjarta umþyrnir þik!" Old Latin: "Nix regina, pectus meum te amplectatur!" or in English: "Snow, queen, my heart embraces you!" to call upon the snow queen's embrace.
- As the potion heats, whisk the whipped cream in a separate bowl, breathing life into it with a soft whisper, [Old Nordic: "Vindr vetrs, skum ástar vaxi!" Old Latin: "Ventus hiemis, amoris spuma crescat!" or in English: "Let the winter wind, whip the foam of love!"] to make it airy and light.
- When the potion reaches a steamy, magical temperature, remove the cauldron from the fire and allow it to rest for 2 minutes, while reciting the incantation, [Old Nordic: "Stutt er tími, en ást er eilíf!" Old Latin: "Tempus breve, amor æternum!" or in English: "Time is short, but love is eternal!"]
- Pour in the bourbon gently mixing in with the hot chocolate potion while reciting this incantation [Old Nordic: "Með hjörtum þúsund engla, leiði kærleikur og ljós veg minn.", Old Latin: "Per corda mille angelorum, lux et amor meum iter dirigant." or in English: "By the hearts of a thousand angels, let love and light guide my way."]
- Pour the enchanted potion into the blessed chalices and crown each with a dollop of the whipped cream, summoning forth the winter wind’s embrace.
- With a flourish, sprinkle the cinnamon over the whipped cream, invoking the shaman's blessing, [Old Nordic: "Forn vit, blæs á hjarta mitt!" Old Latin: "Sapientia antiqua, pectus meum inflet!" or in English "Ancient wisdom, inflates my heart!"]
- Finally, scatter the celestial silver flakes atop the potion, murmuring, [Old Nordic: "Silfr stjarna, bind ást sem eilíf!" Old Latin: "Argentum sidereum, amore aeterno vincula!" or in English: "Silver of the stars, bind with eternal love!"]
